Towards eCall implementation - 2nd Meeting with the telecom operators, 15 September 2005

The second meeting between the European Commission, Telecom operators in Europe and DG eCall was held in Brussels 15 September. The objective of the meeting was to discuss the telecom operators positioning regarding the pan-European eCall service and define a way forward.

As a first step four telecom operators, T-Mobile, Telefonica, Orange and Vodafone made a joint presentation regarding the issues and concerns the telecom operators have concerning the pan-European eCall service. The main issues from the telecom operator’s viewpoint that needs to be addressed are:

  • A process for agreeing on the different requirements;
  • The argumentation for all decisions made regarding the eCall service;
  • Definitions are needed regarding the terminology used in all aspects of the eCall service; and
  • The Telecom operators need to be involved in the development of the In-Vehicle System.

Below you can find the attendance list from the meeting and the different presentation made. For more information, please contact the DG eCall at eCall@mail.ertico.com
