Policy Award Nominees



ASFINAG plans, finances, maintains and tolls the entire Austrian motorway and expressway network covering 2,178 kilometres. This figure includes over 300 kilometres per direction in tunnels and some 300 kilometres per direction over bridges. ASFINAG was established in 1982 and is wholly owned by the Austrian Federal Government.

The Finnish Ministry of Transport and Communications has taken in 2009 and 2010 active steps towards ITS and eSafety deployment in Finland. The activities are described in a national ITS strategy and action plan, identifying a number of priority actions, of which most are in line with priorities of eSafety. Due to the actions of the Ministry, Finland is at the forefront of eCall deployment and was the first country to sign the eCall MoU.
